Creation Process
Description:
During the 2022-23 school year, Fargo Public Schools launched a girls’ wrestling program, combining students from its three standard high schools. The team selected the “Stingers” name and a scorpion mascot as their unifying team identity and requested an illustrated logo. I worked collaboratively with the coach, team, and administrators to find the best art direction. The process began with sketching as many rough thumbnail ideas as possible, collaboratively picking the favorite parts, that I combined into the finished illustrated logo.
Target Audience:
The audience for this project is wide-ranging and includes team members, coaches, parents, school staff, students, competitors, and news media.
Evaluation:
The result was a piece everyone held a stake in developing that successfully visualized their identity. The team has gone on to make sweatshirts, gear, and window clings featuring the design with many plans for future use.
